Questions & Answers

Your dentist will guide you through simple and effective ways to build healthy oral habits that will benefit your child throughout their life.

Our recommendations:
  • We advise scheduling your child’s first dental visit by the age of one. If your child is older, there is no need to worry — it is never too late to begin caring for their oral health.
  • Visit the dentist at least twice a year.
  • Follow preventative treatments such as fissure sealants and scale and polish procedures when recommended by your dentist.
  • Reduce sugar intake by limiting sugary snacks and drinks.
  • For children under two years old, brush using a toothbrush and water only unless fluoridated toothpaste is specifically advised by your dentist.
  • For children aged two to six years, use a pea-sized amount of 1000 ppm fluoridated toothpaste.
  • For children aged seven years and above, use a pea-sized amount of 1450 ppm fluoridated toothpaste.
  • Parents should supervise brushing until the child reaches seven years of age.

We recommend bringing your child for their first dental visit by their first birthday. Early visits help children become familiar and comfortable with the dental environment, allowing preventative and routine care to begin before more complex treatments become necessary.

No matter your child’s age, it is never too late to take care of their oral health. Whenever you visit us for the first time, our team will ensure your child feels safe, comfortable, and completely free from judgement.

For children who may require braces, the first orthodontic assessment is ideally recommended between the ages of 8 and 9 to help create an effective treatment plan early on.
